75 and 90-Minute Basketball Practice Plans
Longer sessions need more structure, not more drills. Here are block-by-block templates for 75 and 90 minutes and a full 90-minute sample.
With more court time it's tempting to add more lines and more talking. Instead, use the extra minutes for two things that a one-hour practice squeezes out: skill stations (small groups rotating through 3–4 drills) and a team-concept block such as spacing or a simple fast break.

The second water break in the 90-minute plan sits right before the scrimmage, so players go into the game fresh.
How to run skill stations
Split the team into three groups of 3–5 players. Each station runs 4–5 minutes, then everyone rotates clockwise on your whistle. A parent or older player can run one station from a drill card; you keep the one that needs the most teaching.
| Station | Drill | Helper's one cue |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Basket A | S1 Form Shooting Close | Hold the follow-through until the ball lands. |
| 2 · Sideline | B2 Cone Weave | Ball stays on the outside of your body away from the cone. |
| 3 · Basket B | R2 Toss and Chase | Two hands, strong grip. |

Younger players (U8–U9) usually do better with two 40-minute halves of games and stations than one long 90-minute plan. Always follow your league's or school's guidance on session length and breaks.
